RHHS Team place 3rd at Math Relays!

Rock Hills High School students traveled to Fort Hays State University on Thursday, November 10th.  Approximately 700 students participated from 41 Kansas high schools.  Rock Hills placed as a team 3rd among 1A high schools.  Students took six different math tests throughout the morning.  Each student participated with students of the same grade level from all 1A through 6A schools.  Our Rock Hills students did exceptionally well with everyone placing in the top ten in at least one event!  Top scorers for Rock Hills were Allison Ost placing in 4 of her 5 events and earning 1 medal, Davin Coil placing in all 6 events and earning 3 medals, and Hannah Simmelink placing in all 6 events and earning 5 medals, 3 of which were for 1st place.  All Rock Hills top ten placings are listed below:

In the Number Sense event freshman Bethany Simmelink placed 8th, junior Hannah Simmelink placed 1st and senior Davin Coil placed 7th individually.  In the Trigonometry event Hannah Simmelink placed 8th and Davin Coil placed 3rd.  In the Algebraic Manipulations event the sophomore team of Lilianna Ortiz, Faith Reinert and Ethan Wirth placed 6th while Bethany Simmelink placed 5th, Hannah Simmelink placed 3rd, Davin Coil placed 2nd and sophomore Allison Ost placed 8th. In the Informal Geometry event, the sophomore team of Lilianna Ortiz, Faith Reinert and Savannah Coil placed 7th while Allison Ost placed 5th, Hannah Simmelink placed 2nd, and Davin Coil placed 3rd individually. 

In the Applications of Algebra event Savannah Coil placed 5th, Allison Ost placed 5th, Davin Coil placed 4th, and Hannah Simmelink placed 1st individually. In the Calculations with Calculators event the freshman team of Savannah Coil, Bethany Simmelink, and Ethan Wirth placed 4th and the senior team of Zachary Gurka, Selena Luong, and Lauren Whelchel placed 8th.  Also, junior Arielle Jacobs placed 7th, Allison Ost placed 3rd, Davin Coil placed 7th, and Hannah Simmelink placed 1st individually.
